Now..to the conversation for today
Let’s be honest.
The reason you haven’t launched your eBook or Digital course is not because you are afraid people will not buy.
No.
It’s because you realize you do not know how to sell digital products.
And this is completely okay. Maybe you've never sold a digital product before. Or you have, and it flopped flat in your face.
The good news is, if you don’t know how to do something, you can learn.
But first, you want to be honest with yourself.
You know your digital product is valuable, own that.
Admit it to yourself.
Repeat after me: “My digital product is valuable.”
There are people out there who need this information you’re trying to share.
You’ve helped countless people in the past with your knowledge. Someone has even put their money down for you to teach them.
That is proof of concept. That is all the proof you need.
But you procrastinate your purpose by saying, “I’m afraid nobody will buy."
Of course, you are afraid nobody will buy. You have no strategy to guarantee sales.
The solution?
Let’s put a profit plan in place to ensure you launch a digital product and you sell.
In this guide, I’ll share a few mindset hacks, with several new thoughts and ideas to inspire you.
If you’re about to launch an eBook or a Course or a Membership, continue reading because this might well be the only guide you’ll need to make a jumpstart.
If I was starting over from scratch, with zero followers and $0, here’s exactly how I’d sell a new digital product.
First a mind map:
–Start sharing your ideas –Attract a tribe —Sell the Solution 1:1 — Grow your audience — Create and sell the digital product — Continue with step 1
Most Creators underestimate how much traffic they need to sell digital products.
When they think of digital products, they envision passive income.
Money flies into their account every day from all over the world.
The very enticing “make money while I’m sleeping” lifestyle.
While this is possible if you play the long game, it doesn’t always start off that way.
Let’s say for instance you want to sell a digital course for $150.
To earn $15,000, you’d need to sell 1000 copies of your course.
Do you have 1000 people in your corner ready to pay?
Can you reach 1000 people with your content every day?
This is a traffic game. You need a lot of traffic, to the right audience, with the right message, to make sales on any digital product.
And let’s not forget; your product has to be so good that it begins to sell itself. People selling your digital product for you by word of mouth is one of the best marketing strategies.
Don’t plan on investing in paid Ads to drive an enormous amount of traffic? Then you need to have a very compelling organic marketing strategy.
Many Course creators have not launched their courses.
It's because deep down, they know this. They know they do not have the requirements to launch a Digital Course yet.
What stops you from getting results?
It is either a lack of the right knowledge or having the knowledge but lacking execution.
If you don’t know what to do, you won’t make a move.
If you know what to do but don’t execute, you won’t make a move.
That said, you need people. You need lots and lots of people to buy your digital product for you to earn a good income.
That’s why growing your audience, owning your audience, and having the right systems and funnels in place is key.
If you are pressed for money right now and you don’t have a large audience, maybe selling a $20 offer may not be the best move.
This is why I recommend selling your offer as 1:1 coaching in the beginning.
Because no matter how small your audience is, if you can prove that you know what you know, all you need is one person to pay you.
One paid client is your leverage to sign on more clients.
Getting one customer in the door at $1000 is so much easier than getting 100 people to pay you $10.
Every time I say this, there’s always someone ready to argue the fact.
But think about it.
If you could package your offer into a more compelling, high-ticket offer, and you had the right content strategy to attract your ideal paying audience, do you think you could sell your offer at $1000?
Of course, you could.
What about $2000? Or $3000?
The reason you haven’t done it yet is that you chose to play small.
You’ve said to yourself, “Well, I’m not sure anybody would buy so I’m just gonna create this $10 eBook to test the market.”
And that’s fine too!
If a $10 eBook is what you want to start with to test your hands at selling digital products, that is wonderful!
Again, you’re going to need 100 people to sell your $10 thing so you can make $1000.
Keep this in mind always.
When I started selling digital products online, I started with eBooks.
As a natural writer, it only made sense that my brain wanted me to write and sell books. So I did.
But in my first year in business, as I grew my audience, the bulk of my income came from coaching clients in a 1:1 capacity.
I didn’t pause my plan on selling eBooks.
I took the plunge. I launched eBooks, paid classes, and group workshops. I also offered 1:1 high-ticket coaching.
By the end of the year, I had earned over $10,000 in digital product sales to hundreds of students. But more than $15,000 from four coaching clients.
Do the math.
Here’s what I want to get across to you today:
To sell digital products organically, you need lots and lots of traffic.
It will help a lot if you think of this as a long-term game, not just something to do right now to make cash right now.
If you’re pressed for cash, please consider creating a High-ticket coaching offer. This way, you can begin to bring in the cash, while also growing your audience and preparing for your digital product launch.
The focus for everyone should be growing their audience, and owning that audience.
You need to invest your energy into platforms that give you traffic value for what you’re investing in time value.
For me, these are platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, and LinkedIn. Of course, this also depends on you and how you enjoy creating content.
Also keep in mind that you are creating content on the platform, for your business. Not for the platform.
Don’t fall into the trap of creating content for Likes and Engagement.
You need that, yes, but only to generate as much traffic as you can so you can deplatform your audience and move them to an email list or a platform you own.
It is your email list that will help you continue to make money with digital products long-term.
In your online business, you are in the Lead generation season at all times.
Create content, generate leads, nurture, sell, repeat. That’s the organic content marketing cycle.
So brace yourself.
Face your journey.
Plan for a long ride.
Make peace with the fact that you are not in this game for a quick buck.
The Creators who get to this place in their journey are the ones who will have a lot of fun along the way.
To wrap this up:
Focus on generating massive amounts of traffic with your content now.
Grow your audience, grow your List, and sell a 1:1 offer to make money now as you prepare to launch digital products.
Remember, it’s a digital product. You only need to make it one time to sell it for a lifetime.
Go kill shit today.
